Dr. Shetty has been the medical director for Waccamaw Center for Mental Health since July 2013. Dr. Shetty originates from Mumbai, India and became a licensed physician at the age of 23. After moving to the United States, She attended and completed her residency in psychiatry from the Medical College of Georgia. At the conclusion of her residency she went on to complete her fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and served as Chief resident.

Dr. Shetty is one of roughly 7,000 psychiatrists in the United States who holds Board Certification in General Adult Psychiatry as well as Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. She has over 15 years of experience in mental health, psychiatry, and substance abuse treatment. She brings concepts of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy/Trauma Focused Therapy to our adolescents.

Dr. Shetty has a diverse medical staff with psychiatrists that are specialized in Child and Adolescent, Geriatric and Adult. Dr. Shetty also supervises a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner. Dr. Shetty was instrumental in recruiting these practioners and is now focused on retaininig these excellent clinicians. She has been able to identify the strengths and weaknesses of each clinic and work with them to put into place systems that are making the Center very successful. Our teamof physicians work very closely with therapists and nurses on a regular basis which helps prevent crisis’s and improves the overall functioning of our Centers and increases patient satisfaction.

Dr. Shetty is striving for Waccamaw to be the first choice for outpatient Psychiatry and Behavioral Health issues in our communities.

Dr. Shetty possesses an excellent systems and patient centered approach coupled with a sense of humor and wonderful bedside manner which is already yielding great results.
